At Geo-Intel, GNSS-R harnesses the reflected signals of navigation satellites for innovative earth observation, climate and environmental monitoring. These reflections are analyzed to extract geo-physical parameters such as soil moistures, snow depth, ocean surface properties, and vegetation dynamics.
What Makes GNSS-R Unique?
Remote sensing plays a critical role in Earth observation, environmental monitoring, and disaster management. Among various techniques, GNSS Reflectometry (GNSS-R) has emerged as an innovative and passive approach to monitor terrestrial and marine parameters. It is an innovative and cost-effective remote sensing technique that utilizes reflected signals from GNSS constellations (e.g., GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, Biedou , NavIC) to extract information about geophysical properties such as soil moisture, ocean surface roughness, snow depth, and vegetation cover.
Unlike traditional remote sensing, GNSS-R turns navigation signals into scientific tools. By capturing satellite signals reflected from Earth’s surface, GNSS-R provides continuous, global, and all-weather insights. From oceans to farmlands, from snowfields to wetlands, GNSS-R reveals Earth’s dynamics — non-invasively, cost-effectively, and in near real time.
